Produce Picking At G's Lane

Fruit, Flowers & Fun: A Stroll Through G's Lane Produce

One of the simple joys of visiting G's Lane is the hands-on experience of picking your own produce. There’s something special about wandering through the orchards, discovering what's in season, and tasting the freshness straight from the tree. Throughout the year, different Flowers, fruits and nuts are ready to harvest, making each visit a little different and always exciting.

From the moment you roll through our front gate, you're greeted by more than just the fresh country air—you’re welcomed by a vibrant splash of colour from our beautiful flower patch. With tall, sculptural Protea trees and a mix of seasonal blooms, the scene is a floral haven that immediately lifts your senses. Unique foliage trees dot the landscape, adding contrast and texture that make any bouquet pop with natural beauty.

But that’s just the beginning.

Wander a little further and you'll discover that our farm isn’t just about flowers—it's a celebration of local produce and the flavours of the land. Whether you’re picking up freshly harvested herbs, crisp veggies, or homemade preserves, there’s always something to tempt your taste buds.

Right now, one of our newest producing highlights is our Finger Lime orchard—a true Aussie bush tucker gem! These tiny citrus fruits are bursting with caviar-like pearls of tart juice and come in a range of beautiful colours. Whether you enjoy them as a zesty snack, add them to your sparkling water, or mix them into homemade ice cream, Finger Limes are a flavourful delight.

Sticking to our citrus theme, we have a lovely mixed orchard of Mandarins, Oranges, Lemons, and Limes. Our Afourer Mandarins are a standout—juicy with a tight skin that’s worth the effort to peel. We also grow Navel Oranges, famous for their bellybutton-like mark, Tahitian Limes, and cheerful Lemonade Lemons, which are as refreshing as their name suggests.

Further down the paddock, you'll find our young Fig trees, slowly settling into the land. You’ve got to be quick, though—the local critters know just how good those figs are! Nearby, a pair of Mango trees—one mature and one newly planted—offer a sweet glimpse of what's to come.

We also have some aromatic surprises here at G’s Lane, like our gorgeous Lemon Myrtle and Cinnamon Myrtle trees. These natives are not only stunning in fresh flower arrangements but also make a lovely herbal tea. We're even experimenting with extracting their essential oils, adding yet another layer of nature’s beauty to our patch.

In our culinary corner, our fragrant Lavender blooms fill the air and our flower arrangements. Like the myrtles, it holds great promise for both dried bouquets and essential oil use.

But perhaps the most treasured trees on the property along with our gorgeous Proteas are our Macadamias. We currently have 21 trees—20 of which we've planted ourselves. While we’re still waiting patiently for most of them to produce, the one original tree that came with the property gives us a small handful of nuts each year—always from the same mysterious branch!

Just nearby, a modest row of Olive trees is slowly growing. Fruit may still be a while away, but their silvery stems are already a unique touch in our floral arrangements.

And best of all? Every single plant at G's Lane plays its part in supporting our thriving bee population. Whether it's the citrus blossoms, native flowers, or lavender fields, the bees love them—and we love the bees!
