The First Of The Season!

A Surprise Season of Pink Ice Protea

It feels as though one season has only just wrapped up and—almost without pause—we’re happily greeted by the next. This week brought an unexpected delight: our Pink Ice Protea are already in bloom.

What we believed would be part of our 2026 season has arrived early. This is their third year flowering, and we’re learning that as the trees mature they naturally begin blooming earlier. We had been expecting their display to hold off until early 2026, but instead we’ve been gifted with flowers now—and, judging by the wide range of bud sizes, likely right through to February or March 2026.

It feels like a little Christmas treat, both for us and for anyone who visits over the coming months.

The early blooms also give us the chance to practice our arrangement skills. Our jar posies always end up looking a little on the wild side—so we’ve decided that when the time comes to sell them, they’ll have to be listed as “The Wildling Bunch.” It feels fitting for something so naturally unruly and beautiful.

Here’s to an unexpected season, early blossoms, and all the joyful surprises the garden brings. πŸŒΏπŸ’—
