This Is Love 🌿
This is love — wandering through the paddocks together, picking flowers side by side, and bunching gorgeous posies for Farmer Luke to give to his work friends.
There’s something so simple and grounding about it. Rain in the distance. Boots in the mud. Hands full of foliage. It feels slow and meaningful in the best possible way.
I can feel my arranging skills slowly improving. Not just from practice (though that certainly helps), but from having more produce available to work with. When there’s abundance, creativity stretches. I’m learning how different textures speak to each other, how colours either soften or sing, and how shape can completely change the mood of a bunch.
These posies were a mix of wattle, eucalyptus and lemon myrtle foliage, paired with striking statement blooms in the form of proteas and banksias. I love how the softness of the foliage contrasts with the bold, sculptural presence of those native flowers. They don’t whisper — they proudly take up space.
But if I’m honest, my natural arrangement style still feels wonderfully WILD.
Not stiff.
Not overly structured.
Not too polished.
Just gathered. Layered. A little untamed.
Farmer Luke was heavily involved in collecting this lot — mainly because it was a rainy day and he had his boots on… and mine were still wet, wet, wet from the day before. So he braved the long grass while I directed operations (from a much drier position!).
There’s something special about creating together. About building something beautiful from what’s growing around you. About sharing that beauty with others — even if it’s “just” a bunch of flowers heading off to someone’s workplace.
A beautiful day of just the right mix of love, flowers and cute cars.
It’s not just arranging flowers.
It’s love in action.
